1:00pm - Donna told me that Tim was "storming" through the night. This means that he was sweating, restless, and fighting. He actually shook his finger at Donna. His breathing seemed more labored. This morning his doctor deflated the balloon type apparatus around the tracheotomy to allow Tim to take breaths in from his nose and mouth. He has been sleeping for the last 6 hours straight. That is a first. He has not slept more that 20-30 minutes at a time, up to this point.
6:00pm - Tim had a very eventful day. Donna told me that he tried standing up today with the help of two nurses. It did not last very long, but it probably shouldn't the first time. They also capped off his tracheotomy so all of his breathing is through his nose and mouth. This also allows him to speak. His first and only words were..."get this off of me", referring to the neck brace (we believe). Donna tried to get him to say her name, but he was tired so she didn't push it. What a day! I can't wait to hear about what he is trying to do tomorrow.
