The Accident...

On the morning of Saturday, March 7th, 2009, Tim Dobbs fell from his attic through the ceiling and landed on his back on the hardwood floor below. He was taken by Careflight to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. He is currently being treated in the Trauma ICU. He sustained a severe skull fracture, bruised brain, and bruised lungs from this fall. Tim was placed in a medical induced coma to begin his treatment.

Wednesday, April 22nd

8:00am - Last evening Tim was having some real problems with his words. He could speak clearly, but using words in the wrong places. It was difficult to communicate at times. However, he slept the whole night and woke up pretty clear. He is very sleepy this morning from the pain reliever. He drank some chicken broth for breakfast, but not all of it before he fell back asleep. We are expecting him to be moved to another room today off of the ICU floor. We are just waiting for clearance from the doctor.

Tim was moved back to the Richardson tower in room 474. We expect him to be there a few days, then discharged this weekend. He really needs to go to a Rehabilitation Center for a few weeks before going home. So we are trying to work it out.

Tim is really doing well today. The swelling around his left eye went away. He is talking with a clear mind. Donna told Tim that she and I went out for breakfast this morning, and he asked her if she took me to their favorite breakfast place in Sanger. A week ago he didn't even remember living in Sanger. I hope this memory recall is a growing trend.
